When her delinquent behavior becomes too much, troubled teen Kit Gordy (AnnaSophia Robb) is forced to attend the exclusive Blackwood Boarding School run by the mysterious headmistress Madame Duret (Uma Thurman). As the school's rigorous classes and unconventional methods draw out new talents in the students, Kit and her fellow classmates realize they are being possessed by dark forces surrounding the school and must find a way out before they are trapped forever.
